“The Sacrifice You Give” by Kirk Hunt

And Abraham lifted up his eyes, and looked, and behold behind him a ram caught in a thicket by his horns: and Abraham went and took the ram, and offered him up for a burnt offering in the stead of his son.

Genesis 22:13 KJV

It is possible you know how Abraham felt. Perhaps you have felt you were sacrificing something precious and irreplaceable. Our hearts too often burn at the things we offer up in our Christian walk.

Abraham’s journey to Moriah must have been anguishing. The God Abraham loved, directed him to sacrifice his promised son. The beloved son he waited for through the years.

We work in, and for, His Kingdom. We invest time, talent, treasure, and probably tears, in our callings. Still, we must be motivated by our love for Him. Do not let some “trinket” stand between your heart and His.

The sacrifice(s) you give demonstrates your love and commitment to God. After all, what can you give God that He did not give first? Is there anything He cannot give back? Still, our too human hearts ache at the thought, yet alone the reality.

He is God. Even our sacrifices were first given to us by Him. It may be scary, but do not hesitate to trust Him. He will provide a lamb for the sacrifice, just as He gave The Lamb.

Walk out your life in obedience and faithfulness. The things you sacrifice were first given by Him. Give to Him with an open hand and heart, even if they tremble as you do so.

Think: I love Him more than what He has given me.

Pray: “Lord, help me to live out my love for You.”

“Flying on Instruments” by Kirk Hunt

Now the LORD had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father’s house, unto a land that I will shew thee:

Genesis 12:1 KJV

“Pack up. Move out. I’ll mail you directions.”

Abram’s obedience was an act of faith. Leaving home, hearth, kith and kin, for whereabouts to be determined, has no other rational explanation. At God’s command, Abram started flying on instruments.

Aircraft have long had the ability to fly on instruments. On instruments, a pilot doesn’t need to see out of the cockpit at all. The pilot trusts the instruments, and the instruments get the pilot (safely) to the destination.

The things God asks of us are sometimes too big for us. The ending is too far for us to see. Worse, we can see the goal, but the path to the goal seems impossible to us. The God of creation asks you and I to trust Him.

He sees farther and deeper than we can. His knowledge exceeds the total of all humanity. His power exceeds anything and everything.

God faithfully led Abram to Canaan, and established him as a father of nations. You can put your faith in God, just as Abram did. Your faith and obedience will land you safely in His purpose for your life.

Think: I can trust Him. Even through the instruments of faith.

Pray: “Lord, help me respond to You in faith and obedience.”

“He Is Not Done With You” by Kirk Hunt

Now the LORD had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father’s house, unto a land that I will shew thee: So Abram departed, as the LORD had spoken unto him; and Lot went with him: and Abram [was] seventy and five years old when he departed out of Haran.

Genesis 12:1, 4 KJV

At 75 years old, you expect to be settled. At that age, your career should be completed or in the last stages. 75 years old is not when you expect to become a world traveling adventurer.

God’s Presence came close. His Word pierced every doubt and uncertainty. “I am not done with you, Abram.” Neon signs and spotlights could not make His message clearer.

You are where you are. You are what you are. God is not done with you.

He has places He wants you to go. He has things He wants you to accomplish. Your age, education, wealth or health are less important than your obedience.

If you go, He will provide. If you obey, He will bless tribes and nations through your life. Your name can become a modern byword for faithfulness.

He is not done with you. Embrace the adventure. Go where He sends you. Your faithfulness will build the Kingdom.

Think: He has special Kingdom work for me.

Pray: “Lord, help me be obedient to Your Call.”

<p style=”margin-bottom: 0in;” align=”justify”>God
looked around for a
binding authority. He wanted an agency or authority by which He
could take an oath. His omniscient eye peered out through all time
and space and saw no thing and no one worthy.

<p style=”margin-bottom: 0in;” align=”justify”>

<p style=”margin-bottom: 0in;” align=”justify”>Determined,
God placed
his omnipotent Hand upon His own Word. He swore an oath, invoking
Himself. He chose to bind Himself in promise to a mere mortal as an
expression of His own faithfulness.

<p style=”margin-bottom: 0in;” align=”justify”>

<p style=”margin-bottom: 0in;” align=”justify”>Of
course, it’s easy for
God. There is no group, agency or government that can block His
agenda. There is no circumstance, past, present or future, that can
surprise Him. There is no circumstance that can exceed His
resources.

<p style=”margin-bottom: 0in;” align=”justify”>

<p style=”margin-bottom: 0in;” align=”justify”>When
God promises, it
does not matter who else says “yes” or “no.” When God
promises, no one and no thing can force Him to change. All that
remains is the exact date and time of delivery.

<p style=”margin-bottom: 0in;” align=”justify”>

<p style=”margin-bottom: 0in;” align=”justify”>Look
through Scripture. God has made promises to you. Do you accept?

<p style=”margin-bottom: 0in;” align=”justify”>

<p style=”margin-bottom: 0in;” align=”justify”>Think:<span
style=”font-weight: normal;”> I
can count on God’s promises.

<p style=”margin-bottom: 0in;” align=”justify”>

<p style=”margin-bottom: 0in;” align=”justify”>Pray:
<span style=”font-weight: normal;”>“Lord,
I accept Your promises.”

<p style=”margin-bottom: 0in;”>
